Dofe Silver

The Silver level of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) requires six months of volunteering (cadets), six months of physical activity (running), six months of learning new skills (Beach lifeguarding NVBLQ), and a three day two night expedition which involves navigation and camping. I did this over a period from November 2022 to June 2023.

SLSGB NVBLQ

The National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification (NVBLQ) course from Surf Life Saving GB was created to provide individuals the skills and the knowledge required to become qualified beach lifeguards. Water safety, rescue tactics, casualty management, first aid, CPR, and the use of rescue equipment are all covered in this course. Participants gain an understanding of beach dynamics, risky circumstances, and effective communication techniques. Participants in the course perform lifeguarding techniques in real-life scenarios and go through tests to show their proficiency. The programme combines theory and practical sessions. Participants who successfully complete the programme receive the SLSGB NVBLQ accreditation, allowing them to contribute to water safety, prevent mishaps, and carry out lifesaving responsibilities on beaches.

RLSS NPLQ

The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is a thorough programme that trains people to work as qualified pool lifeguards. The course combines theory with practical training in water safety, rescue tactics, first aid, CPR, and equipment usage. Participants undergo lifeguard simulations to make sure that they are prepared for real-world conditions, and successful applicants obtain the NPLQ certification, which allows them to maintain water safety, avoid mishaps, and conduct life-saving responsibilities and first aid in pool settings.

RLSS AED Qualification

The AED Course is a certification and training programme that teaches people how to use automated external defibrillators in emergencies. Participants learn how to recognise cardiac arrest, administer CPR, and use an AED to deliver electric shocks that can restore a normal heart rhythm. This course improves one's ability to successfully respond to cardiac emergencies, potentially saving lives.
